It was first release by proton in 1997, That time i was just form 3 and i cant afford to buy a car.
I live in a small town called Sandakan @ The natural City. There is only 1 guy that is lucky enuf to own this car at my town. It was the talk of the day everytime we saw this car.
In the year 2006, my dream came thru... Thou that time i have not been working yet, but with my supportive brother, i was able to pursuade my parents to allow me to buy my dream car. I promose to pay the loan myself with the parttime job im working. The white Rims come from my brother's Satria whom i purchase for him (the rims).
Thou this is a PROTON .. our so call bad quality local car, but i try my best to rebuild it to its best condition. I prefered a putra because its sexy look and it is not as common on the roads because it stopped production at 2000, thou they had a limited production in year 2004 (seldom ppl know about this).
This baby of mine is a 97" batch @ first batch. From the research i've done, the 97" batch was the best with the ECU code 5537 which is more powerfull compare to the ECU code 0450 (2000 batch). 97" batch also comes with Recaro N-joy seats and Momo steering and Gear knobs.
This baby has a capacity of 1834 with a DOHC configuration. From spec, it is possible to fork out a 164NM torque and a not so impressive 138bhp on crank. On wheel are only 110bhp ++. but it is more than enuf to smoke lots of car . (protons).. :-P
To upgrade the performace, i have swap a Mivec throttle body to it.. 60mm intake rather than 54mm standard intake. The red engine cover has nothing to do with its performance.. juz some cosmetic when i did my timing belt change. Grounding cable are added too.. not much use thou.
RPMs redline at 7,500 and my meter can go as high as 260km/h .. i dun think it can do it . thou i tried 200km/h ++ without much problem. A full tank of RM70.00 can fetch me approximately 450km ... if im not that heavy footed .. it will goes 500km per tank easily..To spice up a bit of my putra ICE.. i bought a PIONEER DEH-6850MP. mostly for its look .. ehehe. the sound are being produce by 2 sets of speakers.. SONY HT170 6.5" and Sony HT130 5.5".
